Episode 019 - FOR THE NEWLY DIAGNOSED T1D: All the Things I Wish I Knew
Diabetes is like learning a language you never wanted to learn. Not only are there new "rules", a new way of taking care of yourself and a new way of making decisions, but there are A LOT of new terms to learn. Heck, when I was diagnosed I didn't even know what a carb was, none the less a "bolus".
Inside this week's episode, I'm breaking down nine diabetes-specific definitions I wish I learned sooner. Learning these not only would have made my endocrinologist appointments a lot less overwhelming, but it would have allowed me to have more powerful interactions with other members in the diabetes community.

I was diagnosed with T1D at the age of 19, and to say that I was lost would be an understatement. In the years that followed my diagnosis, through trial, (a lot of) error, and education, I took my own A1C from a 7.1 to a consistent 5.7 and learned what it really takes to achieve predictability in my blood sugars. I also brought my Ulcerative Colitis into remission!
